A non-profit scientific society connecting clinicians, researchers and institutions to advance evidence-informed integrative medicine.
Supporting the
WHO Global Strategy on Traditional Medicine 2025–2034.
Integrative medicine – as defined by the World Health Organization – combines evidence-informed conventional care with traditional, complementary, and integrative (TCIM) approaches. It places the person at the center of care, fosters a therapeutic relationship between professionals and patients, and encourages coordinated, whole-person strategies to achieve health, well-being, and quality of life.
ESIM avances this field through scientific collaboration and policy dialogue.
Recognising the breadth of evidence-based TCIM traditions across cultures and systems
Embedding integrative approaches into European clinical practice and health policy
Research-driven practice from prevention and paediatrics to healthy ageing
Building a sustainable, globally responsible approach to human and planetary wellbeing
Contributing to the development of the TCIM field by fostering research, strengthening clinical practice,
and promoting dialogue between science, healthcare systems, and society.
Europe's leading annual scientific congress for integrative medicine, bringing together clinicians, researchers, and policymakers to advance evidence-based TCIM practice and recognise excellence in the field.

Advancing integrative medicine in Europe through academic and clinical partnerships.
ESIM brings together universities, clinical centres, research institutes, and professional organisations to strengthen the scientific development of integrative medicine. Through its expert networks and scientific initiatives, the Society promotes rigorous research, responsible clinical integration, and constructive dialogue across disciplines.
ESIM actively supports the World Health Organization by promoting evidence-informed integrative and traditional medicine across Europe and aligning its efforts with the WHO Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Health (TCIH) Global Strategy 2025–2034.
Our goal is simple and powerful: strengthen integrative healthcare by connecting science, traditional knowledge, and modern health systems.
Through its international network, ESIM helps amplify WHO initiatives, supports high-quality research, and strengthens connections between evidence, clinical practice, and cultural knowledge. This collaborative approach positions ESIM as a key European partner in advancing safe, effective, and people-centred integrative care.
Recognising excellence in integrative medicine research and leadership
The ESIM Awards honour outstanding contributions to the advancement of integrative medicine in Europe and internationally. They recognise researchers, clinicians, and emerging leaders whose work strengthens scientific evidence, clinical innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in the field.
Presented in connection with the European Congress for Integrative Medicine (ECIM), the awards highlight achievements that advance research, clinical practice, and the responsible integration of complementary and traditional approaches within healthcare systems.
Since 2012, the European Society for Integrative Medicine has presented this award to recognise excellence in the field.
